Educational Programs at West Sound PAWS

Youth Mentoring
Launched in July 2024, our Youth Mentoring Program was created to provide positive, enriching after-school opportunities for youth in our community. Through peer connection, hands-on experiences with animals, and meaningful relationships with trusted mentors, participants gain confidence, belonging, and emotional support. By offering a space that is safe, inclusive, and free from judgment, the program nurtures self-worth, leadership, and resilience. Together, we are inspiring compassion, innovation, and lifelong advocacy for animals and community.
West Sound PAWS in Schools
We love visiting classrooms to inspire kindness, empathy, and respect for animals. Our engaging educational programs are tailored for all grade levels and align with learning goals while bringing animal welfare to life. Whether through storytelling, interactive lessons, or special visits from furry ambassadors, students connect with animals in meaningful ways. Each visit sparks curiosity, compassion, and a deeper understanding of how small actions can make a big difference.

Scouts at PAWS
Scout troops and youth organizations are invited to visit our centers, learn about animal welfare, and support our mission through hands-on service projects. From earning badges and hosting donation drives to making enrichment toys and cozy blankets, scouts play a vital role in improving the lives of animals in our care. We welcome creativity, collaboration, and new ideas that empower youth to lead with compassion. Together, we’re building strong community partnerships and inspiring service through action.
Animal Preparedness
In collaboration with Bainbridge Prepares, West Sound PAWS has developed emergency protocols for compassionate responses in disaster situations. The team for both organizations is working to establish evacuation procedures for cats, dogs, livestock, and horses.

Advocacy
West Sound PAWS believes that the connection between humans and animals is invaluable. It runs both ways – nurturing mental health, physical health, and enjoyment. We work to ensure that families stay together. Pet retention. And also look to identify gaps and ways to serve our community and the greater community.
